Small Library Management Training Program
The Small Library Management Training is a program of the Texas State Library offering management skills to Texas librarians. The program is designed for non-MLS library directors of small community (25,000 or less population) libraries, however much of the content will apply to any non-MLS staff that are currently managers or are on a path to management.
Since 1994, more than 350 library directors have taken part in the program, and 165 have completed the entire series. The Tocker Foundation offers assistance for library personnel to attend these workshops offered by the Texas State Library. This year, classes will be offered in Lufkin, Boerne, Denton, Bryan, Portland, San Angelo and Lubbock. The foundation will consider requests from public libraries serving populations of 12,000 or less and at least 80 miles away from the nearest workshop location. Funds are to be used for expenses incurred while attending the workshop.
